Biography
Anthony De Luca (AKA Tony De Luca) - Born and raised in San Francisco, CA. He's a first generation Italian-American. When asked "So, there are Italians in California?" Tony gives a "stupid" stare to the questioner and says, "Of course. It's called the Witness Protection Program." But one thing all Italians can agree upon is that Mom's cooking is always the best! Growing up in a strong Italian family, he had his ambition to go into construction and engineering. He chose to enroll at San Jose State University in San Jose, CA (50miles south of San Francisco) in Civil Engineering. After 2 1/2 years in the engineering program, he decided to change his major. In 1995, Tony earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration from the university.
While working in local politics in the San Francisco Bay Area, he tried his hand in acting and began taking classes at City College of San Francisco. After a couple of years of successful shows in the SF Bay Area, he decided to apply for a masters program in acting. he applied to schools in both the West and East Coasts. Finally making a decision to move to New York City and enroll in Brooklyn College's MFA program in acting. He received his MFA degreee in Acting in June 2000 and auditioned and worked in the New York area. His countless jobs had him play in venues like Ellis Island, The Lincoln Center, and numerous Off-Braodway theaters. He also toured around the U.S. and Canada with Shenandoah Shakespeare in their Blush and Swoon tour (2001-2002) performing roles in The Winter's Tale, Romeo and Juliet, and As You Like It. And being part of one of the very first troupes to perform in the world's only authentic Shakespearean indoor theater, known as The Blackfriars.
Returning from the tour, Tony continued to work in the NYC vicinity in plays, TV and film; and finally joined the Screen Actors Guild in May 2002. He has worked on such shows and movies as Ed, Law and Order, The Sopranos, and Analyze That. For nearly two years (2002-2003) he worked for the Educational Theater of New York doing shows for ESL (English as a Second Language) students and philosophy students in the adaptation of Plato's Socrates on Trial and The Marriage Broker.
For the past two years, Tony has embraced his comical side by performing in dinner theater venues in New Jersey, Westchester, NY, and in Connecticut with Hanging Cow Productions. He's impersonated the Greek father in a spoof of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Ozzy Osbourne in a spoof of Grease's 25-year high school reunion. Finally, in January 2005, Tony took the biggest step towards his incredible acting career and began doing stand-up comedy. Today, he can be seen on a regular basis at Dillon's on W. 54th St. and other small clubs around the NYC area. He is also booking places in New Jersey and Connecticut. When asked about his involvement in stand-up, Tony points out that he does it for the cause... what cause that might be... he doesn't even know.
