The Servant of Two Masters

by Carlos Goldoni
April 2003 - July 2003
Directed by: Rene Migliaccio

First written in 1743, The Servant of Two Masters followed the comedia dell'arte tradition by using its stock characters - the greedy Pantalone, the overbearing Doctor (played by Anthony De Luca), two sets of young lovers, and a tricky servant, but unlike the improvised scenarios of comedia dell'arte, all of the dialogue was written, except certain scenes in which Truddaldino, the tricky servant, improvised the action and the words. When finally published in 1755, Goldoni had written the complete text.
Shows performed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and at the Lincoln Center.
